Alabama Deer Hunts: The most popular big game is Whitetail Deer. Alabama invests heavily in promoting healthy whitetail deer numbers by maintaining over 37 Wildlife Management Areas. Knowledgeable wildlife biologists assist hunters and land owners in establishing proper food plots to nourish the deer and grow some big horns. They also track and age the harvested deer so continuous improvement can be made so the generations to come can enjoy hunting those big whitetails! And there are a lot of BIG BUCKS taken in Alabama each year. Most whitetail deer hunting in Alabama is still hunting, either from a blind, shooting house or tree stand. But there are some spot and stalk hunting done. There is an early archery season starting mid-November and gun season starts soon after and runs through January. Alabama hunters can hunt with archery equipment, rifles and shotguns, depending on the season dates. The rut dates vary from the northern to southern regions of the state, but that is definitely the most exciting time to book an Alabama Deer Hunt!
Alabama Turkey Hunts: Turkey Hunts are also highly popular, because of the high number of turkey in the state, and the spring is a fantastic time of year to be in the woods. Eastern Wild Turkey is a delicious treat and there is nothing like the thrill of calling down a big gobbler and romancing him into range! Shotgun and archery are the most popular weapons for Spring Turkey Hunting in Alabama. Alabama also has excellent Bobwhite quail and Dove hunts. Many of the featured Alabama hunting lodges, guides and outfitters offer these hunts and have trained dogs and trainers that are just as excited about the hunt as you are!
Alabama Hog Hunts: Across the country, wild hog - boar hunts have become very popular, and that is true in Alabama as well. Hog populations have increased exponentially and have become quite a nuisance for many landowners! Many counties allow hog hunts year round so it can be a great way to stay in top shooting shape, and put some meat in the freezer as well. Small game and predator hunts are also popular, especially for youth hunters, and oftentimes can be combined with other hunts for an exciting package experience.
