There is no hunting adventure quite like this, or any more
American in the west than a pack-in trip to the wilds of Idaho
in search the majestic Royal Bull Elk. This as a remote,
backcountry hunt, with wall tent camps. The hunts are fair chase
hunts. With massive bulls, large deer, big bears and
elusive cats….. whatever your dream I will work hard to make it
happen in the wilds of Northern Idaho.
Our crew will work very hard to have your dream hunt to be safe,
comfortable, successful and, most of all, what you hoped for."

Idaho Big Bull Elk and Deer Hunting in the
Bitterroot
That is what Bitterroot Mountain Outfitters is renowned for and specializes
in. In fact, a part of Idaho in which we have exclusive
outfitting rights produces the highest percentage of
six-point-or-better bulls than any other unit in Idaho.
Northern Idaho gets more rainfall than many other traditional
elk hunting areas, which leads to more vegetation, areas that
makes for bigger elk and closer shooting." Even the elevation is
not a problem as the hunting area tops out under 6,500 feet.
With 20 years experience, I have seen a past success rate of
approximately 50% on bulls during the rifle season, a high
success rate during muzzle loading season, and the Bowhunters
can expect to see bulls 65% of the time within 35 yards on their
hunt. Deer hunting can be combined with many of the elk
hunts, with the best chance for a nice mule deer falling in the
late muzzleloader season.
Hunting takes place on horse, foot, or pickup trucks during the
fall seasons and on snowmobiles during the November
muzzle-loading season. A lot depends on the game, the season….
and the hunters abilities.

Idaho Bear & Mountain Lion Hunts
Bear hunts are conducted from tent camps and take place in
both spring and fall. Spring bear hunting is done over bait, and
most fall bear hunting is spot-and-stalk, some baiting depending
on the huckleberry crop. Hunting a large fall bear when the elk
are bugling, the weather is nice and the fall colors are at
there best, just can't be beat.
Success runs 80-90 percent
for both spring and fall, with about a 60 percent chance of
taking a bear in a different color phase. Our outfitter
specializes in bow hunting and takes about 70% bow hunters for
bear. The Bears taken have averaged a very respectable 6 foot
square on the rugs, some going over 7 feet.
Mountain Lion hunts are also available during the winter months.
Accommodations can be a tent camp or arrangements will be made
for lodging in a local remote small town.
