Bob Efford, professional hunting outfitter, guide and bush pilot, provides Newfoundland Moose, Caribou and Bear hunting at it's best!
Bob's plane is a Cessna 185 floatplane, providing commercial and air taxi service in the remote parts of Newfoundland and Labrador. Because of this unique access and experience, Bob is able to determine locations to meet the needs of each hunter. Bob is able to access hunting opportunities at prime areas, such as Sam's Pond Lodge, Harold's' Pond Lodge, and Steele Lake Lodge as well as 2 fly-out locations: Rainy Lake and Dundee Pond.
Remote, Fly-In Hunts in Newfoundland - Canada Moose, Caribou, Bear
At Harold's Pond and Sam's Pond, spot and stalk are the preferred methods to hunt a trophy moose. It is not uncommon to see four to six moose each day with several shooters in the mix. We currently hold an astounding 90% success rate on our Trophy Moose Hunts!
We have several Moose Hunting Packages to choose from, with combo Moose/Bear hunting options, too. Ask about group rates.
Because of our remote locations, we can provide excellent Trophy Caribou Hunts. Our best locations for Caribou include the remote areas of Steele Lake and Sam's Pond. Our Success Rate for Trophy Caribou is 98%!
Steele Lake, as well as Harold's Pond and Sam's Pond, provides good chances to stumble onto a Black Bear; especially at Sam's Pond. There is a high population of these trophy bruins weighing in excess of 500-600 lbs.
Tree stands will also be used for hunting bear. Even though it is much more difficult to keep a bear around the bait during the fall, the chances for success will run 30%-40%. This is due to the vast expanses of berries that bears feed on.
You accommodations will vary, depending on the type of hunt you want. Harold's Pond and Steele Lake lodges are approximately 800 square feet in size and very clean and comfortable. They are of log construction with three double occupancy private bedrooms; hot and cold running water with showers and indoor plumbing. Lighting is provided by generated power and refrigerator and cooking range is propane. The lodges are heated with 12 hour burner wood stoves. A full time cook is on staff at each location to provide home cooked meals and shore lunches during the day. The menu will consist of turkey, beef, duck, steak, fish, etc.
