Wilderness Elk Hunting Adventure
As the fall moves in, the bugle of rutting elk can be heard echoing
throughout Idaho's Salmon River Mountains. As Idaho hunting guides, we
offer combination hunts for Elk/Deer/Bear. Our hunts run from
September 15 to November 16. Our 8 day trip includes 6 full days of
hunting. Elk hunting will be our primary target, and you’ll find some
outstanding Bulls here in the backcountry. Our average bull elk rack
is a 5 x 5, but it isn't uncommon to take 6x6's over 300"s.
After taking your trophy elk, you’ll be able to hunt for a mule deer.
The limited mule deer hunting pressure gives us an abundant population
and your opportunity to add a large mule deer to your hunting trip is
excellent. Our Idaho hunting area consistently produces some very
large mule deer racks and while we can’t guarantee any certain trophy,
we can tell you that you’ll be mule deer hunting where the big muley
bucks grow. The average mule deer taken is a 4 x 4 with a 24 inch
spread, but again every year we are taking bucks over 175" and up into
the low 200"s.
Our Idaho hunting unit is open to any legal weapon. If you so choose,
it’s possible to book an elk hunt during the rut and use a rifle. We
use a variety of elk hunting methods, spot and stalk, still hunting,
stand hunting, calling, and tracking, all according to your needs and
abilities. The elk hunting terrain in west central Idaho's area of
Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness is a mixture of sagebrush,
parks, dark timber, slide areas, and burned timber. It’s one of
Idaho's most beautiful areas, it is rugged country that’s fun to hunt,
if you are up for it.

Pack-In Elk Hunting
Our goal at Elk Springs Outfitters is to offer you an outstanding
guided Idaho elk hunt and give you a chance to experience this
beautiful, rugged wilderness of Idaho at its best. You’ll horseback
(pack) into our backcountry base camp on gentle, trail-wise horses and
mules.
Because the quality of your elk hunting experience is important to us,
we limit to 4 elk hunters, with an
exception
being made for single parties of up to 6. This smaller focus allows us
to give you the kind of attention, advice and service you need for
your Idaho wilderness adventure.
