The K Lazy
Three Outfitters has been operating wilderness adventure vacations,
horseback riding vacations and big game hunting into the Scapegoat
Wilderness area longer than the protective national wilderness status
granted it, 38 years to be exact. 2010 marks the twenty-second year that
I have been a licensed Montana guide, combining over 30 years of hunting
& packing experience with a lifetime of ranching stewardship. We will
show you a quality western wilderness adventure vacation, be it a Rocky
Mountain horseback ride, Montana fly fishing or a big game hunting;
Montana elk hunting and Montana mule deer hunting. All the
Trophy Pics on this page are from the 2009 season, not just the big ones from
the last 30 years.
We sincerely
care about your big game hunt and want you to be totally satisfied with
us. We can't promise weather conditions, but we prepare for your big
game hunt with good guides and cooks; excellent equipment and horses. We
will hunt from daylight to dark to help secure your game and ensure you
the best possibility of a successful and enjoyable big game hunt. Come
to the K Lazy 3 with the outlook that you are going to have a great
time, meet some new friends, see some spectacular country, and
experience some true wilderness big game hunting. In the end, it's the
hunt and the comradely of the K Lazy 3 you will remember long after the
kill. |

Montana Combo Elk & Mule Deer Hunts
The Scapegoat Wilderness area (out of Lincoln) is
where we operate our early season (September - early November)
combination elk hunt and mule deer hunts. The primary focus in this
area is taking the mature bull elk, however, we have taken some nice
mountain mule deer during the elk hunt.
Days start early in hunting camp, with guides and wranglers
saddling horses and the cook preparing a hearty family style
breakfast. An early horseback ride out from camp will put you in a
prime hunting area before dawn. We generally spend the day elk
hunting on foot, ending up back at camp or at the pickup point where
the horses will be a welcome sight to carry you back to camp. If
your preference is for a more relaxed hunt, a short hike from camp
is available and can also be productive.
Now for the reward, a large hearty family style dinner and the
opportunity to give the details of the one you bagged or the big 6x6
that got away.
Brett says, "I guide and manage the camps. We hire guides
who know the areas and are enthusiastic hunters. Several of them
have been with us since we began outfitting in these areas. They
will field dress the game and cape out the heads. In all cases our
guides will adjust their pace to match the physical abilities of the
hunter." |

Late Season Mule Deer Hunts
We hunt the Deer Creek mountains (out of Big Timber) for the late
season trophy mule deer hunting. The daily routine is similar to
that of our Scapegoat elk hunt except our focus is on the trophy
mule deer. However, this area also has a resident elk herd
population, so if you have a combination license and have not filled
the elk tag yet, the combination elk hunt and mule deer hunting
opportunity is available. |

Summer Pack & Fishing Trips
Numerous trout laden streams, rivers and high
mountain lakes await you in the vast Bob Marshall and Scapegoat
Wilderness areas of the Rocky Mountains. Our primary trout species
include the Westslope Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout, with the
opportunities varying depending on which summer backcountry pack
trip that you take. We have a fixed camp at Meadow Creek where there
is an abundance of Rainbow trout. A day outing from Meadow Creek to
Parker Lake or Twin Lakes gets you trophy Cutthroat trout. Enjoy the
varying fishing opportunities on our traveling wilderness
backcountry pack trips, enjoying the high mountain vistas as we
travel from fishing hole to fishing hole. We always camp at a
stream, river or lake (most of which are tributaries to the famed
Blackfoot River) to enhance your camping experience and to maximize
your time on the water catching trout that range from 6 - 24 inches
and weigh in the 2 - 4 pound
range. |
