Granite Springs is like opening day anywhere else. Our Pheasant and
Chuckar Partridge hunting combined with Rainbow Trout fishing on over
12,000 acres of CRP grasslands, food plots and our private lake allow us

excitement of your youth. We like to hunt in small groups of 6-8 hunters
over our professionally trained dogs, or bring your own dog if you wish.

acres of private ground that is managed for pheasant as well as whitetail

Accommodations: Our accommodations are clean,
quiet and comfortable. You'll bunk in a fully furnished 2-story cabin on
the outskirts of town. The cabin sleeps 6-8 hunters very comfortably. It

back door and shoot clay pigeons to arm up before the hunt. Later,
return to the comfortable bar area to relax and swap stories about that

Offering: We specialize in Pheasant Hunting, but also
offer Partridge, Grouse, Whitetail Deer and Spring Snow Goose hunting.
You are able to harvest three (3) Pheasants, five (5) Partridge, in any
combination of Hungarian and Chuckar Partridge and three (3) Sharptail
Grouse. We have several Boone and Crocket class whitetails shot here
every year. You need to call immediately for details. We can only accept
a very limited number of hunters for whitetails. We have heated blinds
set up or you can sit in a tree stand on the river bottom or any number
of very thick tree claims. These are totally wild hunts.

northwest SD (antelope hunts) & northern Nebraska (turkey hunting).

Antelope hunting is a true "hidden gem" hunt.
Our archery antelope hunts are a challenging and fun hunt, unlike any
other you've been on. The typical shot while bowhunting antelope is 25
to 40 yards.
We offer archery, rifle, and muzzleoader Whitetail
& Mule Deer Hunts in South Dakota. You can find some type of deer
hunting in SD from mid-September thru December.
Our prairie dog hunts are all-day shooting
sprees! We hunt prairie dogs on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation.
Tribal lands are full of prairie dogs and we provide all the guides,
meals, lodging, transportation, and shooting benches you will need to
make the hunt worth the drive or flight.

depending on the game you are hunting, but rest assured, you will be
full, comfortable and entertained during your hunt!
SOUTH
DAKOTA HUNTING:
Hunting is a year-round sport in South Dakota. Hunters have access to nearly 4.5
million acres of public land. Upland game, waterfowl, small game and big game
dominate the fall hunting seasons. Predator hunting fills the winter months,
spring brings turkey hunting, and prairie dog hunting consumes the summer. The Black Hills, which reach an elevation of more than 7,000
feet, provide good deer hunting opportunities. Thick stands of
ponderosa pine, white spruce, aspen and bur oak cover the land.
The terrain varies from rolling hills and prairies to high
mountains, rimrock and deep gorges. For the deer hunter who
wants a mountain hunting experience without having to hire a
guide or plan a hunt years in advance, this is one of the best
places to go. The hunting unit stretches 100 miles from north to
south and 40 miles east to west. It covers 2.3 million acres.
More than 80 percent is open to public hunting. Whitetails make
up about 75 percent of the deer herd and mule deer the other 25
percent. Road access to the area is good. Almost any good
hunting area can be reached by pickup truck. South Dakota's
state bird, the ringneck pheasant, is the most sought after game
in South Dakota. Pheasant season traditionally opens the third
Saturday in October and runs through the middle of December.
Nonresident licenses are good for two, five-day periods and may
be purchased at agents throughout the state. The grasslands of
central and western South Dakota are home to two species of
prairie grouse, the sharptail grouse and prairie chicken. Under
the state's regulations, the two birds can be hunted as prairie
grouse, without having to differentiate the species. Grouse
season traditionally opens the third Saturday in September, and
runs through the middle of December. The same license for
pheasants is valid for grouse. Populations of many different
waterfowl species migrate through South Dakota each fall.
Waterfowl applications for the fall become available in early
June with a mid-July deadline. The number of nonresident
licenses is limited. The first seasons normally open in early
October, and the last goose season closes in late December. The
state's West River prairie lands are characterized by rolling
hills cut west-to-east by flowing rivers. The area is open to
nonresident hunters on a limited lottery basis (about 1,600
licenses). Most deer hunting is done on private land--permission
is required. The deer herd consists of both whitetails and mule
deer. Overall hunter success is about 70 percent. Applications
are available in late June. Depending on the unit, both one-tag
and two-tag licenses may be available. Nonresident deer hunting
opportunity is very limited in the eastern half of the state.
Nonresidents must wait until the third drawing before they can
apply for licenses. By that time most units are filled,
especially those in the eastern half of East River. Applications
become available the first part of August with a nonresident
deadline in mid-October.
