Small Mammal Field Care

Field Care: Without a doubt, proper field care will determine the quality of your finished mount. When collecting small mammals in the field you're normally shooting it with a shotgun so try to select a animal that has the least amount of damage. Keep the animal from getting too warm.  Get it to a freezer as soon as possible.  Wrap your animal in two plastic bags and seal them very tightly. Freeze the animal as soon as possible. Keep the animal on ice, but do not get it wet until freezing is possible.
