Texas Deer Hunting
Deer hunting in Texas is very popular, with several areas both public and private where hunting enthusiasts will be lined up come the season. There are a number of different species within Texas, however due to the large trophy antlers and the excellent meat, whitetail deer are the most popular.
Whitetail Deer Hunts, or simply whitetail hunts, are the most common types of hunts in the U.S. and can be pursued in all but five states. The Whitetail Deer, though very illusive, are found in Canada, Central America and South America as well.
So When Can I Bag a Trophy Whitetail?
The season for this exquisite creature varies by area and may change from year to year, it is generally in the winter months however, from around the beginning of November until sometime in January. In Texas all hunters are required to have a license, out of state hunters as well, and these may be obtained from the Texas Parks and Wildlife department. A hunter safety course is also required. In addition bow hunting may have different rules entirely from one County to another, and these rules may change each season.
While the exact size and limits are determined each year according to the deer population, most years hunters are allowed one buck with an antler spread of 13 inches. Outfitters around Texas will be aware of all of the rules for the current deer season and will be able to provide you the information you need to ensure an exciting and rewarding hunt.
