Winterhawk Outfitters - Specializing in wilderness hunting trips for Elk, Mule Deer and Mountain Lion in the Flat Top Wilderness of Northern Colorado.
Since 1982, we have been committed to providing the highest quality 100% fair chase wilderness hunting experience possible. We maintain the true western tradition of big game hunting in the pristine back country areas.
Winterhawk Outfitters is a year-round Outfitting Service, offering incredible Summer Pack Trips and Flyfishing Adventures in the summer. We also have a renown Hunting Guide, Outfitter and Packers School, should you be interested in a career in the outdoors.
In the Flat Top Wilderness, there are no motorized vehicles. Our hunting area covers over 250 square miles of territory where the Elk, Mule Deer and Cougar are free to grow to their fullest potential without excessive hunting pressure and the presence of man. All hunting is, of course, 100% fair chase. We enjoy fantastic success rates on our hunts, but there are no guarantees you'll take home a trophy.
For most hunters, booking a wilderness hunting trip is a milestone. We know the planning and care that should go into such an endeavor and we take the responsibility very seriously. We strive to provide excellent service, safety and exactly the kind of hunting experience the client desires.
Winterhawk Outfitters has unique access to prime Trophy Mule Deer hunting in Units 25-26 in Eagle and Garfield counties! These areas consistently produce trophy quality animals. The area is remote, and it is a pack-in hunt. Elevations will be from 9500 to 12000'. Be sure to get that Deer License application in before April! This is a 1 guide per 1 hunter trip, very limited availability.
If you have been dreaming of casting your rod out for some beautiful trout in some of the most breathtaking parts of the country - Winterhawk has a Summer Fishing Adventure for you! We ride through breathtaking views, fish pristine streams for Cutthroat, Brook Trout and Rainbow, and enjoy a great camp atmosphere with delicious meals. June through September is our Summer Pack Trip season.
We offer a broad and comprehensive curriculum designed to give you the best education possible to launch a successful career in the hunting and fishing industry. We provide instruction in horsemanship and mulemanship, horse health care, horseshoeing, mule packing, setting up a wilderness camp, wilderness survival, fly fishing, guiding elk, deer, bear and mountain lion hunters, archery, rifle and muzzleloader hunting, elk bugling, wildlife photography, Forest Service regulations, first aid/CPR, and trophy care and caping, plus many other practical skills. Our expanded courses will put you with experienced guides on actual hunts. Our school stresses the work ethic and responsibility that is required to establish a successful career as a guide, packer or outfitter. Our training course is 45 day course of study starting in late July.
